Rachael takes the legal route

A job with a legal firm might not seem like the ideal placement for an Events Management student, but undergraduate Rachael Hull would beg to differ.

After completing her placement year working for Forbes Solicitors as an Office Administration and Events Assistant, Rachael has recently agreed to take up a full-time role after graduation.

In addition to learning general office work, Rachael was kept busy organising legal seminars and mock tribunals at venues such as Manchester Town Hall and Ribby Hall. This included preparing delegate packs and name badges beforehand, event management on the day and post-event evaluation.

As a bonus, she was able to listen in to the seminars and expand her own knowledge of areas such as HR legislation. This will be useful to her in the future as an Event Manager.

During the summer, she organised corporate hospitality sports events for clients and sponsors. Rachael is now in her final year at UCLan, but she enjoyed her time at Forbes so much she is still working part-time there and feels she gained a lot from the experience.

"Working at Forbes has helped me to develop an understanding of office work," said Rachael. "It has also helped build my confidence and improve my communication skills, and best of all it has given me good, practical experience of doing different types of events."
